EMANUELA CAMACCI (SCULTRICE- SCULPTOR)
EMANUELA CAMACCI (SCULTRICE –SCULPTOR)
Dopo aver studiato scultura
all’Accademia, ho lavorato col mosaicista Costantino Buccolieri.
Italia che all’estero.
Fuoco in Via Romagnoli a Roma.
vissuta in Turchia, durante l'incontro itinerante “Global Nomadic Art Project”
assoluto dell’ambiente. In quell’occasione, oltre a riscoprire l’aspetto
EMANUELA CAMACCI ( SCULPTOR) "I believe that having land and not ruining is the most beautiful art that anybody could ever want” (Andy Warhol), could be the motto of Emanuela Camacci, linked to her research on land art. It is an art form born in America in the 1960s, characterized by the artist's interventions in pristine spaces. The sculptor was born in Rome in 1968 and after the Artistic High School, she enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, in the sculpture section. In the 1990s she attended the studio of Constantine Buccolieri, where she learned the mosaic technique. After her apprenticeship, she decided to start her own business and open an atelier as a sculptor. She participated in numerous temporary exhibitions, art exhibitions in Italy and abroad and obtained public assignments. In 2017 she took part in the event "Global Nomadic Art Project" in Turkey that marked the decisive turning point in her artistic research, where the natural elements were at the basis of the work and the artist grasped its potential. With this in mind, works of wood, clay, stone, and installations are born where everything is as changeable as nature. The artist, after initially adhering to the figurative, has moved to organic forms contained within geometric structures. Each sculpture reflects an emotion and has the magic of merging art with nature. THE ARTIST SPEAKS ABOUT HIMSELF I
consider myself a privileged person because I was born and raised in a
wonderful city like Rome, which definitely affected my professional choice. After
studying sculpture at the Academy, I worked with the mosaicist Constantine
Buccolieri. It was a precious adventure that also made of me the mosaic teacher
who currently teaches at the School of Arts and Crafts of the City of Rome. In
1991, I started working with stone during my first work experience when I won a
competition for travertine sculptures and was a guest of the Giansanti quarry
in Bagni di Tivoli. Over
the years I have experimented with various techniques and used different
materials for the sculptures, now present both in Italy and abroad. I
participated and won in competitions for public works such as the opera
"Mani", for the barracks of the Fire Department in Via Romagnoli in
Rome. I
have taken part in numerous land art meetings in Germany, Russia and France,
but the ones that solicited my creativity the most have been in South Korea. Extraordinary
was the experience lived in Turkey, during the traveling meeting "Global
Nomadic Art Project" (G.N.A.P.), where together with other artists we gave
life to artistic interventions made from natural materials found on the spot,
in absolute respect for the environment. On that occasion, in addition to
rediscovering the creative and playful aspect, I acquired a different vision of
life, very far from city life. During
the COVID lockdown, I made sculptures that recall the empty towns of De
Chirico, but crossed by organic and smoky presences. I
love to play with nature, which with its charm has taught me how important it
is to bring respect to them.
